Customers are required, before boarding public transport, to obtain a valid and appropriate travel ticket — whether a single ticket or a pass — to validate it when used, and to keep it until their destination with the obligation to show it to authorised inspection staff. Failure to comply with these requirements exposes the offender to the administrative penalties provided for by Regional Law 17/2015.

The obligation to validate — for both single tickets and passes — always applies at the start of each journey and at every transfer.

Customers who do not comply with the obligation to validate their ticket when boarding the vehicle will be fined in accordance with the provisions of Regional Law 17/2015, even if they proceed to validate the ticket after the presence of inspectors.

By purchasing a ticket, a contractual commitment is established between the passenger and CTM, governed by Articles 1678 et seq. of the Civil Code and the company's regulatory rules set out on this website and in the Mobility Charter.

The contractual relationship is in any case concluded when passengers board the vehicles.

After validation, the ticket is personal and non-transferable.

All stops are request stops: customers must signal their intention to board by waving their hand. Stops are identified by a pole, a shelter, or both. It is not possible to board away from stops or while the vehicle is in motion. Avoid asking the driver to let you off outside a stop, as passengers may only be let off within defined areas.

Transport of children

Customers holding a valid travel document may take one child aged between 0 and 5 free of charge. Those accompanying more than one child aged between 0 and 5 must purchase one ticket for every two children. Folded pushchairs/prams for children are allowed free of charge, provided they are folded to reduce their bulk. On vehicles equipped with spaces for passengers with disabilities, one open pushchair containing a child is allowed through the central doors. In this case the accompanying adult must place the open pushchair in the designated space, facing backwards with the wheels braked, fasten the safety belt (where provided) and press the button (where present) to inform the driver that the operation is complete and the journey can resume.

Transport of animals

Customers may bring small animals free of charge, provided they are carried in a way that does not cause disturbance or annoyance to other passengers (animals must be kept in a bag or carrier). Guide dogs for visually impaired persons are also allowed free of charge without a muzzle. However, if explicitly requested by the driver or other passengers, the visually impaired person is required to fit a muzzle on their guide dog. The passenger is responsible for any damage caused by animals to other passengers or to the bus. Medium or large animals are not permitted on board.

Transport of items

Customers may carry one piece of hand luggage free of charge, provided it does not exceed 25x30x50 cm, or one standard-sized shopping trolley. In all other cases they must purchase one ticket per item of luggage. One folding bicycle or folded scooter per paying passenger is permitted free of charge, provided it is stored in a dedicated bag and positioned by the customer in a way that does not create an obstruction or hazard for travellers. The transport of excessively bulky or dangerous objects is not permitted. The company is not responsible for theft, tampering, loss, deterioration or damage to items transported. Customers will be liable for any damage caused by transported items to other passengers or to the bus.

Lost property

Objects found on CTM vehicles are handed over by the driving staff to the dedicated office at the Autofiloviario Centre on Viale Ciusa, which handles their registration. Unclaimed lost property remains available for collection for 6 months. All detailed information is contained on this page of the website:
